Infection and Immunity: Evolution and Mechanism

Last Meeting: 22 June 2010.

Aims: Insect immunity receives currently interest from a diversity of research perspectives such as molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology and medical entomology to ecology, evolution and behaviour. This multitude of different approaches promises a wealth of insight, however, the different disciplines collaborate too rarely. Interdisciplinary research and crosstalk will facilitate even more insight into the question in which we are all interested: how insects interact with their pathogens and parasites. Facilitating and fostering such interdisciplinary exchange is the aim of this special interest group which was launched in Edinburgh in July 2007.
