Entosci20 is the entomological conference for schools and colleges, where the delegates are the pupils themselves, aged 14 to 18.

Delegates will experience exciting different ‘zones’, learning all about the study of insects from the experts in the field.

The conference aims to:

  • Excite and educate both pupils and their teachers about entomology the science of insects
  • Inspire pupils to consider a career in entomology and related sciences from secondary school subjects, to courses in higher education and employment opportunities
  • Give the pupils the chance to handle live insects and hear about different areas of entomology such as insects evolution, ecology and forensic entomology

Dr Seirian Sumner, reader in behavioural ecology at University College London

Dr Kanchon Dasmahapatra, senior lecturer in evolutionary biology at University of York

Dr Amoret Whitaker, senior lecturer in forensic studies at University of Winchester

Professor Adam Hart, professor of science communication at University of Gloucestershire

Stefan Gates, "the Gastronaut", writer and presenter

Early career entomologist zone speakers:

Amma Simon, PhD student studying biointeractions and crop protection at Rothamsted Research

Ashleigh Whiffin, assistant curator in entomology at National Museums Scotland

Aqib Ali, laboratory technician in vector molecular biology at the Pirbright Institute

Katrina Dainton, research assistant in entomology at Forest Research

Will Hawkes, PhD student studying insect migration at the University of Exeter
