EMBO Workshop “Molecular and Population Biology of Mosquitoes and Other Disease Vectors”, 22-26 July 2019, Kolymbari, Chania, Crete, Greece
Control of vector populations and disease transmission are key components of an international effort to eliminate malaria and other vector-borne diseases. The frequent and explosive outbreaks of arboviral diseases highlight the need for intensified research towards detailed understanding of pathogen transmission by invasive vector species. The conference focuses on novel technologies for gene editing in redesigning vector genetic control strategies, spread of insecticide resistance, vector population genetics, vector ecology and behaviour, vector immunology and vector-pathogen interactions.
Travel grants are available for participants from all Low and Middle Income Countries, Chile, India, Singapore, Taiwan, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey, and for PhD students. Child care grants are also available.
