Join the Royal Entomological Society Finance Committee – Help Shape the Future of Entomology

Are you passionate about insect science, the environment and skilled in financial oversight? The Royal Entomological Society (RES) is seeking dedicated and knowledgeable individuals to join its Finance Committee in a voluntary capacity.

As a committee member, you will play a vital role in helping to shape the financial future of the Society, ensuring we can continue to promote the study and advancement of insect science for the benefit of all. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your expertise, gain valuable governance experience, and make a real difference in the strategic direction of one of the world’s leading entomological organisations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in finance, investment, accounting, business management, or charity governance.
  • An eye for detail and a strong sense of financial responsibility.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for the Society’s mission.
  • Membership of the RES, or a willingness to join the Society as a member.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide guidance and oversight on financial planning and budgeting.
  • Review management accounts and investment performance.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Support the strategic planning to support the Society’s growth and sustainability.
  • Support the Society in meeting its charitable objectives responsibly and sustainably.

Time commitment:

Attendance at four two-hour committee meetings a year (three online, one in person, usually in London), with very occasional communication between meetings.
