Professor Chris Thomas FRES FRS


Chris Thomas carries out research on ecological and evolutionary change, focussing on positive as well as negative responses of animals and plants to Anthropocene environments. He is best known for his research analysing how species have been affected by habitat fragmentation and climate change, and the consequences for conservation. His work has encompassed studies of butterflies and moths, research on six additional insect orders, spiders, animals with endoskeletons, and plants.
