The adult characteristics of the group, which includes the Nemonychidae, Urodontidae, Anthribidae, Attelabidae and Apionidae, are outlined. The use of the keys is explained. A summary of hostplant records and a check list of species are provided.
Illustrated keys are given to the families of Curculionoidea and to genera and species within families and subfamilies of the orthocerous group. The entry for each species includes information on biology and larval hostplants, a brief summary of distribution in the British Isles, and an outline of the zoogeographic range.
