We are looking to recruit to the RES Membership Committee.

The committee oversees membership matters, enabling the Society to enrich the world with insect science

Responsibilities of the committee include:

  • ongoing monitoring and review of the Society’s services to its Members and Fellows
  • ensuring there is a framework for accountability and reports from the Members and Fellows about how well the Society is fulfilling its charitable purpose
  • organising consultations with the membership, and improving communication with professional and amateur entomologists
  • liaising with other committees to implement new initiatives from Council to improve the benefits of membership
  • monitoring the composition of the Society in terms of equality, diversity and inclusion
  • increasing the total number of Members and Fellows around the world.

The committee, chaired by Prof. Walter Leal Hon.FRES, meets around three times each year, with virtual or hybrid meetings.  They will also be scheduled at various times to enable all time zones to be included where possible.  The committee members support the work of the RES staff team in between meetings.

The RES hugely values equity, diversity and inclusivity and the valuable input that our global membership brings.  We want the committee to reflect all areas and backgrounds of our community.

Any member or fellow is welcome to apply, we would particularly like to hear from members and fellows:

  • from outside the UK
  • in the early stages of their career
  • who practice entomology in industry or as an amateur/enthusiast
