Professor Simon Leather was Emeritus Professor of Entomology at Harper Adams University, UK. His main interests centre on biological pest control, mainly of aphids and lepidopteran pests of agriculture, horticulture and forestry. His work took him around the world from Iceland to Africa.  

Prof Leather was the founding course Leader of the MSc Entomology, MRes Entomology, MSc Conservation & Forest Protection, MSc Ecological Applications and MSc Integrated Pest Management at Harper Adams University. He had a long association with the Royal Entomological Society, as a Trustee, meeting convenor and editor of numerous RES journals and books. He was the founding Editor-in-Chief of the newest RES journal Insect Conservation and Diversity. Prof Leather was also one of the main organisers of EntoSci – the entomology conference for schools and colleges.
