Mr Clive P Farrell
Year of Honorary Fellowship, 2010

Clive P Farrell became fascinated with entomology at the young age of 5 upon finding a caterpillar turned tiger moth in his garden, his primary interest becoming the breeding of moths and butterflies. After deciding against his initial training as a solicitor, he backpacked around the globe before coming across a suitable site to establish a butterfly house.

Clive Farrell is a pioneer in the creation of butterfly-friendly habitats. Since the 1979 opening of his first walk-through butterfly display, The London Butterfly House, he has gone on to open others in Britain and around the world, including turning his Dorset estate into an insect fantasia.
