Heather Campbell

Chair of Education & Training Committee

Heather Campbell is a Senior Lecturer in Entomology at Harper Adams University and a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society (RES) since 2018. A long-standing and active member of the Society, she currently serves on its Education & Training Committee and contributes to the RES Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee. Over the past two years, Heather has also collaborated with the Society to establish and deliver a national PhD and Early Career Researcher summer school, providing specialist training in entomological fieldwork and identification.

At Harper Adams, Heather is recognised for her innovative, research-informed approach to teaching. Her student-centred practice integrates research and pedagogy through co-created modules and co-authored peer-reviewed publications with students as part of their taught experience. In recognition of her work, she was named Harper Adams’ Innovative Lecturer of the Year in 2024.

Heather is deeply committed to building a more inclusive and representative scientific community. As a queer, disabled, neurodivergent woman in entomology, she brings valuable lived experience to her EDI efforts, working closely with diverse student populations to foster a sense of belonging and to make entomology more accessible to all.

Driven by a belief in the RES’s role in leading, connecting, and advocating for entomology across research, education, and public engagement, Heather is passionate about contributing strategically to the Society’s future, helping to ensure it remains inclusive, dynamic, and responsive to the needs of the entomological community.
