A range of voluntary roles are available at Antenna.

EDITOR

With David George standing down, Antenna needs a new editor to work alongside Richard Harrington and take the lead on alternate issues.

The role includes:
• commissioning copy
• deciding on the suitability of submitted copy and editing it
• liaising with our excellent associate editors, editorial assistant, printer and authors
• proof reading each issue
• chairing the annual Antenna meeting.

The editor needs to:
• have experience of editing and an excellent grasp of the vagaries of the English language
• be very enthusiastic about entomology
• be able to “think outside the box” and drive the magazine forward with innovative ideas
• be well-organised, reliable, polite and quick in responding to communications
• be a Fellow or Member of the Royal Entomological Society.

The post offers excellent opportunities to:
• increase your range of entomological contacts
• enhance your CV
• attend entomological meetings and events
• contribute to the success of the Society.

Most time is involved around two copy-dates each year, early April and early October. However, doing little and often greatly reduces the effort needed at these times.

Please feel free to contact Richard for a no-obligations chat.

ASSOCIATE EDITORS

We would like to increase the ethnic and international diversity of the pool of associate editors for Antenna.

Associate editors help to generate copy by coming up with ideas for articles and finding authors. They are also invited to help in the later stages of proof reading. Associate editors are invited to attend and contribute to the Antenna Annual Meeting, usually held in mid-September. Attendance can be either in-person or online. Associate editors must be Fellows or Members of the Royal Entomological Society.

Please feel free to contact Richard for a no-obligations chat.

SPOTLIGHT COLUMNIST

In recent years, Professor Stuart Reynolds has written a series of very popular and informative “Spotlight” articles. He will be stepping down from this role at the end of the year and we are seeking a replacement.

Each article should concentrate on a particular entomological theme and highlight the state-of-the-art, gaps in knowledge, controversies and likely developments, all with a personal slant. The articles should ideally be between 2,000 and 5,000 words, and include illustrations.

Please feel free to contact Richard for a no-obligations chat.

GENERAL

Antenna always welcomes suggestions for articles, and submissions on any entomological topic. The editors also welcome suggestions and comments on any aspect of its content and appearance. Please help the magazine to be just how you’d like it.
