About RES Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Grants

(Supported by the RES EDI Grant 2025)
Our EDI Grants support projects that make a meaningful contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within the entomological community.
We particularly encourage applications from individuals from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds in entomology. Projects may be based anywhere in the world and may benefit any part of the wider entomological community.
This grant is not for ongoing activities but is to support new initiatives or a clearly identified new element to an existing activity.
What we fund
We award grants of up to £3,000 to support new initiatives or clearly defined new elements of existing work, that place EDI at their core.
Projects must clearly demonstrate how they will strengthen equality, diversity and inclusion within entomology.
Some examples of projects, events and activities that this fund can cover include:
- Entomological history projects that celebrate ethnic diversity and heritage which can lead to more involvement of underrepresented groups in entomology
- An entomology-focussed citizen science project providing technology, visual aids, sign language interpretation or alternative communication methods within a field/laboratory setting specifically used by individuals with hearing impairments
- Workshops/networking events that amplify women’s and girl’s voices, encouraging a greater diversity of contributions in entomology
- A university-led careers event, specifically supporting early career LGBTQ+ groups with entomological pursuits
- Activities that promote intergenerational connections in the entomological community
- Community research on EDI best practice
See the bottom of this webpage for examples of previously funded projects.
