Want to shape the future of the Royal Entomological Society?

We have an exciting opportunity for trustees to join the RES team from September 2026. We are looking for candidates ready to actively contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the Society in key areas, including fundraising, marketing, finance, publishing, education and more.

Proposed Trustee Election Timeline

It is proposed that the 2026 Trustee elections follow the timeline below:

  • 2 June 2026 – Nominations open
  • 7 July 2026 – Nominations close
  • 14 July 2026 – Voting opens
  • 21 August 2026 – Voting closes
  • Between 22 August 2026 and the AGM – Successful and unsuccessful applicants to be written to and provisionally informed of the outcome, subject to formal ratification at the AGM.

This timeline broadly mirrors that used in previous election cycles and allows sufficient time for nominations, voting, and communication with candidates ahead of the AGM.

The only pre-requisite for standing in trustee elections is that your are a Member or Fellow of the Society. You can be based in any part of the world and work or have interests in any field of entomology.

New trustees will be appointed at the AGM on 8 September, following online voting by the Members and Fellows of the Royal Entomological Society – Online voting will be open to all members and fellows from 14 July to 21 August 2026

Candidates will be notified of the results before the AGM. Council (the board of trustees) will announce the results at the AGM on 8 September 2026.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm BST on 14 July 2026. Please contact info@royensoc.co.uk if you have any questions.

Data provided as part of the application process will be treated in accordance with the Society’s Privacy Policy.

We look forward to hearing from you!
