DTP and CASE Partnerships are considered case by case in collaboration with supervisors at higher education institutions around the world. Please email enquiries to Dr Jessica Stokes, Project Officer – Jessica@royensoc.co.uk

We currently support one Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) as a Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering (CASE) partner with the University of Sheffield:

PhD student: Stephanie Glendinning

Project title: Providing for our pollinators: Investigating how urbanisation affects the ecology of flower-feeding insects

Main supervisor: Dr Stuart Campbell

Co-supervisor: Dr Jill Edmundson

RES supervisor: Dr Jessica Stokes

Stephanie is a PhD researcher at the University of Sheffield, studying pollinating insects in urban environments.  Her focus is on how urban stressors, such as pollution, drought and the urban heat island effect, can impact pollinator-plant interactions. She is particularly interested in how urban stressors impact plant stress and subsequently the nutritional quality of floral rewards.

Steph is funded by an ACCE DTP studentship, in collaboration with the Royal Entomological Society, and is supervised by Dr Stuart Campbell (Biosciences, Sheffield), with Dr Jill Edmondson (Biosciences, Sheffield) and Dr Jessica Stokes (RES) co-supervising. She is also a Grantham Scholar

For more information on Steph’s research, check out her Sheffield Pollinators site. She also organises an outreach event, Bug Fest, held at Sheffield Botanical Gardens, aiming to celebrate and raise awareness about insects and insect science.
