Shape the Ento26 Programme

After a successful pilot at Ento25, we are now accepting proposals for in-person member symposia and workshops at Ento26, and welcome submissions that highlight the full diversity and creativity of the entomological community, including innovative approaches, interdisciplinary perspectives, and voices from all backgrounds and career stages. Proposals relating to our Grand Challenges in Entomology are especially welcomed.

Submission deadline: Monday 19th January

Member symposia

Symposia sessions enhance Ento’s scientific programme by offering a platform to explore current and emerging topics in entomology.

A typical symposia session runs for 1.5 hours and includes one 30-minute plenary talk followed by four 15-minute presentations. Alternative formats will be considered, and double or even triple sessions are also welcomed where there is sufficient content (Part I and Part II etc).

Symposia organisers are responsible for inviting speakers, setting the running order, and chairing the sessions. They will also need to ensure that all speakers are registered for the event and manage any withdrawals or changes to the session.

Workshops

Workshops are intended to be interactive experiences that promote learning, creativity, and meaningful networking among participants. They add significant structure to the meeting and offer a platform to aspects of entomology not covered through posters or oral presentations.

We are accepting proposals for 1.5- and 3-hour workshops, with scheduling determined by the quantity and format of submissions.

RES Support

The RES will provide clear deadlines to keep your workshop or symposium on track, and an events team member will be available to support you along the way.

We will also help raise the profile of all symposia and workshops through our marketing channels, including social media and newsletters.

Application Deadline and Submission

Please submit your proposal by Monday 19 January 2026 and include the following information:
  • Lead organiser contact details
  • A title for the session
  • Session format (workshop, symposia)
  • A description of the symposia or workshop (approx. 500-700 words)
  • Suggested speakers for plenary and other talks (for symposia only)

Before submitting your application, please carefully consider whether you can commit the necessary time for preparation.

Please send your application to events@royensoc.co.uk or contact fran.fleming@royensco.co.uk with any questions. We will confirm whether or not we can accommodate your workshop or symposia within a few weeks of the deadline.

Please note
  • The RES cannot cover registration and attendance expenses for workshop or symposia speakers, although eligible presenters may wish to apply for a conference participation grant. If interested in funded support to attend Ento26, please apply here.
  • The RES events team will not be able to help source speakers.
  • Facilitators/chairs may seek external funding or sponsorship opportunities if funding is required.
  • All proposals will be evaluated by the Ento26 Convenors, RES staff and the Events Committee Chair.
  • Cancellations can cause serious disruption to the event. Please do not submit a proposal if you are not sure whether you will be able to commit to the session.
