RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023

The Royal Entomological Society is excited to be hosting its first ever garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in May 2023. The Royal Entomological Society Garden, designed by Tom Massey and supported by Project Giving Back, will be unveiled at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023 (23 – 27 May) before being relocated as a public access teaching garden and long-term opportunity for insect study as part of the Royal Entomological Society’s (RES) planned UK network of gardens. The garden will show how remarkable and valuable insects are with visible insect science taking place in the unique - insect eye inspired - outdoor laboratory at the show.    Read More

Student Award 2022 results

The Royal Entomological Society is excited to announce the winning, second and third place essay entries of the 2022 RES Student Award. To enter the annual entomology writing competition, students write an 800 word essay in English, on an insect-related topic of interest to the general public. The 2023 competition will be renamed as the RES Student Science Communication and is now open for entries from students anywhere in the world, the closing date is 31st December 2023. Read More

Joint BSBI and RES Daneway Meeting

A members-only event, joint with the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland - this is a new venture to bring different interests together regarding conservation management for plants and invertebrates. Three short talks will be followed by a simple lunch and a 3-hour trip to the Royal Entomological Society Nature Reserve at Daneway Banks where the Large Blue butterfly should be in flight. Read More
