Why do we need stories, photos and videos?
The Royal Entomological Society (RES) uses stories, photos and videos in a range of ways to enrich the world with insect science. Being able to show people the global importance of entomology through stories and visual materials such as photos and videos helps us to demonstrate some of the impact of insects to ecosystems and to human life. They are extremely valuable when we campaign for change and increased awareness of insect science and education, provide informative resources and raise vital funds. Thank you for your help!
How will your story, photos and/or videos be used?
Unless specified otherwise, you grant us permission to copy, use, display and publish your story and/or personal image (in any form of photos, electronic media images or videos where you could be recognised) in one or more of the following ways:
Websites: for content on one of the following websites: https://www.royensoc.co.uk/ and https://www.insectweek.org/, as well as the social media channels of other organisations within the RES movement and those we collaborate with.
Social media: our social media channels for RES and Insect Week (Facebook, X/Twitter, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube etc), as well as the social media channels of other organisations within the RES movement and those we collaborate with.
Campaign materials: such as videos or media packs for Insect Week, event promotion, membership, fundraising and any other RES related campaigns by us or other organisations within the RES movement and those we collaborate with.
Newsletters: RES newsletter groups, as well as the newsletters of other organisations within the RES movement and those we collaborate with.
Print and digital information materials: such as booklets, programmes, information resources, guides, banners, posters and any other printed marketing materials for publicising the Society’s movements.
Reports: such as progress and impact reports or brochures for members and funding bodies, funding requests and proposals and any other materials for publicising the Society’s movements.
Conditions of use
- We will not use your story or personal image for any purposes other than those detailed above.
- Your details will be kept confidential, and we will not pass on the details recorded on this form to any other organisation without your permission.
- We will ensure that our use of your story, images and photos comply with all requirements of all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements in force.
- Your consent for use of these stories, images or photos will continue with no time limit (unless you ask us to stop using, which you can do at any time). However, most images are used for approximately five years, after which time they are moved into our image/video archive for possible future use. The images will be kept for as long as they are relevant and will be deleted when no longer needed. RES will retain the copyright for their use.
- You have the right to withdraw your permission for us to use these stories, photos or videos at any time by contacting info@royensoc.co.uk (please note we cannot retrospectively withdraw stories or images that have already been printed). This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out by us before you withdraw your consent.
- We will record your name and consent in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations and RES privacy policy.
