Scholarships & Awards
More postgraduate entomology students will be able to take advantage of a coveted scholarship worth £4,000, thanks to an increase in funding from the Royal Entomological Society.
Due to the success of the MSc Entomology course at Harper Adams, the Society will now fund five 50% bursaries each year.
Harper Adams is the only UK institution to teach general and applied entomology at postgraduate level and is committed to helping to address the challenges within UK plant science.
Entomology is the scientific study of insects, and investigates the important role that they play in all of our ecosystems. As well as beneficial insects, many are also important pests of agriculture, horticulture and forestry, and some may cause human health problems.
Students will be able to apply for the £4,000 scholarship once they have accepted an offer of a place on the course at Harper Adams.
They will need to submit a statement to explain why they have selected the course, what modules are of particular interest and how the scholarship will benefit them.
Several students from Harper Adams have also entered and won the RES Award for Student Science Communication.
Student Forum
Our annual Student Forum event provides an opportunity to network and discuss ideas with other students, consider options for your future careers in entomology, and share your research in a welcoming space. The programme also includes talks and careers advice from invited insect scientists and two interactive workshops to help develop skills to help further your careers on ‘Using citizen science as an engagement tool’ and ‘Exploring Research Culture’. Harper Adams students frequent this event.
