The Royal Entomological Society is delighted to join Pemberley Books in celebrating their 25th anniversary of their shop in Iver. As a longstanding champion of entomological literature, Pemberley Books has played an invaluable role in connecting generations of researchers, naturalists and insect enthusiasts with the knowledge and resources they need to advance insect science.
Dr Ian Johnson FRES, owner of Pemberley Books, has been a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society since the 1980s, making this a particularly wonderful milestone for celebration.
We are proud to recognise Ian and Julie’s outstanding contribution to entomology, natural history publishing and the wider scientific community.
Established in 1989 by Ian and Julie Johnson, the company opened its retail premises in Iver 25 years ago, relocating to a characterful 1930s mock-Tudor building just a two-minute walk from Iver station. The premises, formerly a haberdashery and later an auction house, are now home to more than 25,000 book titles dedicated to the natural world.
“We chose Iver because of its excellent transport links. The station is only a short walk away, and the road connections are excellent, making it easy for both local visitors and those travelling from further afield.
Local people are often surprised and delighted to discover such a specialist bookshop on their doorstep. We greatly value our local customers, as well as our international mail-order clients who have supported us over the years.”

To mark its 25-year milestone in Iver, the bookshop will launch a series of initiatives throughout 2026 to thank loyal customers and engage the wider natural history community. Planned anniversary activities include quarterly prize draws offering a £25 book voucher to customers, special discounts for natural history and entomological societies, an expanded newsletter programme with more frequent curated recommendations, and a refreshed visual identity across digital platforms.
